More parking options are available to passengers at Waurn Ponds Station, with the first section of the car park upgrade now open.

The Waurn Ponds Station upgrade has delivered more than 200 new and upgrades spaces, increasing the parking capacity at the station for the local community.

The largest section of the car park upgrade was completed first to limit disruptions to passengers and deliver more spaces sooner for passengers from Waurn Ponds and surrounding areas.

Following the opening of the new eastern car park, the main entrance and car park between Mumm Street and Bollinger Street are now closed to the public, to allow for piling works on the northern side of the station.

New car park entrances off Sugargum Drive between Oakwood Crescent and Mumm Street and at Rossack Drive will be used as the main station car park access points until mid-2021.

Accessible parking will be temporarily moved to the western car park while works progress at the station, with wayfinding signage in place to help passengers access the station platform.

Construction works on the new platform, duplicated track and accessible overpass are also underway on the Waurn Ponds Station upgrade.

Piling work has commenced at the station to prepare the foundations for the key infrastructure, to help deliver more services to and from Waurn Ponds Station.

The Waurn Ponds Station upgrade is part of the more than $1 billion investment by the Australian and Victorian governments in rail upgrades between Geelong and Waurn Ponds as part of Regional Rail Revival, including the South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Duplication and Waurn Ponds stabling.

These projects also complement the Australian and Victorian governments’ commitment to Geelong Fast Rail which will cut average travel times for passengers by up to 15 minutes.
