Future in safe hands

For three-year-old Willow, a recent Rail Safety Week visit to her ILO Longwarry Early Education Centre class by the Gippsland Line Upgrade team was an extra special event.

That’s because her dad Nathan, the project’s signalling supervisor, was among those presenting about this year’s theme ‘Expect the unexpected – watch out for trains’.

Discussions included about following signals and signs at level crossings and stations, and how upgrades to the Gippsland Line are improving safety for train passengers and road users.

Willow’s class also gained an insight into life as a worker on the project. Rail Safety Week resources and information are available from the TrackSAFE website.
