Major works continue on the Ison Road Project in the countdown to opening, with critical upgrade works at the Geelong Road, Princes Highway and Werribee Main Road intersection requiring a significant closure at the end of the month.
Works to construct the intersection of Werribee Main Road and the future Ison Road will require significant disruptions from 7:00 pm Friday 26 June to 5:00am Wednesday 1 July, including full closure of the intersection overnight between 7:00 pm and 5:00 am on Friday 26 June, Monday 29 June and Tuesday 30 June.
Access to the Matlby Bypass Service Centre and fast food outlets will remain open at all times during this period.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead, allow up to 20 minutes extra travel time and use alternative routes via Duncans Road throughout the duration of these works, to minimise delays and avoid queuing along the Princes Freeway.
Traffic management will be in place, including reduced speed limits and traffic controllers to help vehicles move safely through the area.
Detours and the latest traffic updates are available at bigbuild.vic.gov.au/disruptions.
Works are also progressing to build a new roundabout to improve access to Wests Road and the Maltby Bypass Service Centre from both the Princes Freeway citybound exit ramp and Geelong Road.
Once open in September 2026, the Ison Road overpass and extension will provide Wyndham's growing community with a vital new link to the Princes Freeway, improving connectivity, enhancing safety and reducing congestion.
The Ison Road overpass is jointly funded by the Australian Federal and Victorian State Governments, with the extension funded by the Victorian State Government and Wyndham City Council.
