Ticking off another major milestone on the Hall Road Upgrade

Back to Newsfeed

The Western Port Highway and Hall Road’s upgraded traffic light controlled intersection was reopened to traffic in the early hours of Wednesday 20 December 2023.

An 8 week construction blitz saw crews remove the old congested roundabout and replace it with a safer traffic light controlled intersection featuring new traffic lights, extra through lanes, left turn slip lanes and pedestrian crossings.

The newly upgraded  intersection complements previously upgraded intersections on the highway - at Thompsons, Ballarto and Cranbourne-Frankston roads. This now allows traffic lights to be sequenced across a 6km stretch of the highway.

This sequencing will ensure traffic can move more quickly and efficiently across this section of the Western Port Highway and allow greater management of peak hour traffic in both directions.

Our aim now is to complete major works on the Hall Road Upgrade in February, 9 months ahead of schedule. To achieve this, we’ll have a series of staged closures between McCormicks and Cranbourne-Frankston roads in January and February to complete final asphalting and line marking works.

Thank you to local communities and drivers for their ongoing patience and support while we complete these important works.
