SRL back for a big year

Back to Newsfeed

SRL East Geotechnical investigations have kicked off again between Cheltenham and Box Hill, marking the start of a massive year for Suburban Rail Loop (SRL).

Up to five drilling rigs will be busy collecting info on ground conditions over the next few weeks – informing the planning and design of SRL East, and adding to last year’s impressive tally of 12kms of ground drilled.

But this year’s milestones won’t just be boring.

Construction on SRL East will get underway with Initial and Early Works starting this year– creating up to 800 direct local jobs. These works will include preparing sites for the launch of tunnel boring machines, moving and protecting underground services, ground improvements and road modifications.

Expect more exciting details about the SRL stations and the areas around them, as well as the people and technology making SRL a reality.

Precinct Reference Group meetings will continue to provide local input into the planning, development and delivery of SRL East. There will also be plenty of opportunities for communities to get involved in shaping their neighbourhoods into even greater places to live, work and visit.

It’s going to be a big year.
