Pedestrians, cyclists and skaters can now explore 200km of new and improved walking and cycling paths across Victoria.
From the recently opened Upfield bike path in the north, to the continuous 17km route from Caulfield to EastLink trail in Dandenong, there are so many trails to explore.
Every major transport infrastructure project, from North East Link to the West Gate Tunnel features new or upgraded infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians, making it safer and easier to walk and ride.

Melbourne's west
There are now more than 50km of walking and cycling paths, including 3 new overpasses along the Federation Trail. The path starts in Yarraville and passes through Hobsons Bay, and then goes all the way to Werribee. Access is via Primula Avenue in Brooklyn and Old Geelong Road, Hoppers Crossing.
Look out for the beautiful native plants in the garden beds along this trail which also joins the Kororoit Creek Trail and the Western Ring Road path.
Melbourne's north
Cyclists can enjoy 2.5 kilometres of Upfield bike path upgrades from Bell Street to Moreland Road. Cyclists and pedestrians are now separated for most of the journey under the new rail bridge. Beyond the upgraded section, it breaks at different intervals along the trail, continuing through to the city mostly along the railway line. This one is also near the picturesque Merri Creek Trail and can also be followed to meet the Campbellfield Creek Trail to the north.
There is also 4kms of shared use paths between Mernda and South Morang along the Mernda Rail Extension.
Melbourne's east
Make sure you check out the 10km Box Hill to Ringwood track. Access is via Middleborough Road, travelling through Laburnum Park and connecting to Laburnum Street.
Melbourne's south
Up to 12km of pathways have been added to create a continuous 17km route from Caulfield to the 35km EastLink Trail in Dandenong. Together these paths link to various trails including the Dandenong Creek Trail, Blind Creek Trail, Mullum Mullum Creek Trail and the Koonung Creek Trail which connects to the Main Yarra Trail into the city. Follow these all the way to Port Phillip Bay in Carrum for some sea air!
There’s also a new off-road shared user path along the Burwood Highway – as well as a 45m long bridge over Dandenong Creek– providing an important connection to the Eastlink and Dandenong Creek trails. This 800m path connects to an existing one that also runs along Burwood Highway towards Westfield Knox.
