More than 90 local community projects in the inner west will share in $1.4 million worth of funding as the recipients of the latest round of West Gate Neighbourhood Fund Partnerships and Grants.
This is the largest number of projects supported in a round of the Fund so far, including:
- Almost $200,000 awarded to support 12 community festivals and events.
- More than $160,000 awarded to 38 sporting clubs and community groups through the smaller participation equipment grants.
- Over $250,000 invested in more than 30 one-off projects or activities that aim to improve community connectedness and participation.
- Nine larger partnerships awarded to community groups and councils to the value of almost $800,000 for projects that improve open space and upgrade sport, scout, and community infrastructure, connecting the community and providing a lasting legacy.
This includes helping Borderlands Co-operative in Footscray with funding of $50,000 to create a community garden space for people of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds to connect and the Williamstown Literary Festival received a $3,500 grant to support its children’s program, offering free workshops to promote a love for reading and writing.

The West Gate Neighbourhood Fund supports community projects that celebrate history, support diverse communities, focus on arts, and provides new opportunities and skills for communities, increasing participation, and bringing the community together.
It is targeted to the Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong Council areas to support communities most impacted during construction of the West Gate Tunnel Project.
