A brand-new park is now open at Donald McLean Reserve, offering the inner west community a new open space for them to enjoy.

Opened in April 2023, the new park in Spotswood includes a large, sheltered BBQ area, a bike skills area, flying fox, basketball and netball court and a children's playground.

The upgraded reserve also features an outdoor exercise station, with fitness equipment installed along with new gardens, trees, and walking paths.

A free community day, organised by Hobsons Bay City Council, was held to celebrate the new park featuring face painting for kids, a coffee van for parents, and free native plant giveaways.

The new park was constructed in partnership between the West Gate Tunnel Project and Hobson’s Bay City Council.

The West Gate Tunnel Project provided $5m in community funding to help improve and upgrade local parks and sporting facilities in the inner west. A shared sports pavilion has also been completed at Donald McLean Reserve.

The funding has also helped provide new cricket nets and carparks, upgraded ovals, improved club pavilions, better facilities across Donald McLean Reserve, WLJ Crofts Reserve and Brooklyn Reserve.
