Building safer walking and cycling paths for the community – closures of Williamstown Road citybound exit ramp and Footscray Road citybound

Back to Newsfeed

Work is underway on Footscray Road to build the cycling superhighway that’s suspended between the new elevated road above Footscray Road.

Over 100 segments have now been lifted into place to build the veloway that will provide cyclists safer travel from the west to the city.

In October and November 2024, crews will be lifting segments into their final position directly above Footscray Road, as well as installing signs and asphalting.

At the same time, we will also be kicking off works to build the missing link in the Federation Trail which will connect from Fogarty Ave in Yarraville to other cycling paths.

While this work is underway, there will be disruptions for motorists travelling on Footscray Road and the West Gate Freeway Williamstown Road citybound exit ramp from Tuesday 1 October to 17 November 2024.

Delays of up to 15 minutes are expected.
