We are delighted to announce that 21 organisations in Hume, including Hume City Council, will share in $1.2 million worth of funding as the final recipients of the Victorian Government’s Sunbury & Bulla Neighbourhood Fund.
The $2 million Sunbury & Bulla Neighbourhood Fund was established in 2022 to support the Sunbury and Bulla communities during the construction of the West Gate Tunnel.
Projects supported include helping inclusive physical theatre company BoilOver stage a visually striking aerial performance and Sunbury Downs Secondary College upgrade its netball court.
Other projects include a new mobile food trailer by disability services and support organisation Distinctive Options and the refurbishment of the Sunbury Community Health Centre’s playground, creating a lasting legacy for the community.
Round one of Sunbury & Bulla Neighbourhood Fund supported 26 organisations to the tune of $800,000.
Offered in two components – partnerships and grants - the Sunbury & Bulla Neighbourhood Fund provided an opportunity for not-for-profit groups to access funding to support projects that will bring people together and build community capacity.
The program was designed to support the Sunbury and Bulla communities, acknowledging the temporary disruption to the local area while soil from the West Gate Tunnel is being transported to the area.
The Fund supports a wide range of projects including those that celebrate history or diversity, focus on arts and culture, emphasise learning and development, or enable greater participation of community members.
Tunnelling has now wrapped up on the West Gate Tunnel Project and the number of trucks travelling to the disposal site in Bulla has reduced significantly.
We thank the community for their patience while this work was underway
