Major works at the M80 interchange for the West Gate Tunnel Project have wrapped up twelve days ahead of schedule, with the ramp from the M80 Ring Road to the West Gate Freeway now open.

Crews have been working on essential reconstruction works to make room for widening the West Gate Freeway from 8 to 12 through lanes.

Works on the Millers Road outbound entry and exit ramps in Altona North to the West Gate Freeway were also completed on schedule and reopened on Monday 17 February.

Crews worked over summer on the following:

  • installing new guard rails
  • widening the outbound Millers Road ramps
  • installing new freeway barriers
  • installing 362m of new stormwater drainage
  • installing 48 piles on the Millers Road M3 ramp
  • reconstructing the road pavement.

The outbound ramp from Geelong Road to Princes Freeway, as well as lanes between Grieve Parade and the Princes Freeway, remain closed until the end of February. Crews will continue to complete road reconstruction works and install a new bridge connecting with the outbound ramp from Geelong Road to the Princes Freeway.

The new bridge will allow traffic to keep moving, as new lanes are built to increase the capacity of Princes Freeway.
