Residents of Brooklyn in Melbourne’s west can swing, bounce, fly, cycle, run and play at three newly refurbished local reserves.
With parks now reopened, Brooklyn families will now be able to enjoy these wonderful local parks, which have received the following upgrades:
- D.N Duane Reserve, Primula Avenue, Brooklyn: a double flying fox, trampoline, fitness station, play structure with slides and nets, shade shelter, triple swing set, seating node with shelter, garden bed with tree planting for shade, path access from the pavilion to Pipe Line Reserve, and concrete access paths
- Brooklyn Reserve, Cypress Avenue, Brooklyn: new restroom facilities, seating nodes, additional shelter, links to the Federation Trail with added lighting, boulders and logs for informal seating, and concrete access paths
- Rowan Avenue Reserve: new play structure with slides and shade, a basket swing set, boulders and logs for seating, balance logs, and concrete access paths.
The upgrades form part of the $5 million funding agreement between the Victorian Government as part of the West Gate Tunnel Project, and Hobsons Bay City Council.
When completed, the West Gate Tunnel Project will create more than nine hectares of open space throughout Melbourne’s inner western suburbs.
