West Gate Freeway lane changes – Millers Road exit decide early at the West Gate Bridge

Back to Newsfeed

Your drive outbound on the West Gate Freeway is going to change. We will be shifting lanes on the West Gate Freeway between Williamstown Road and Grieve Parade to free up space to build new freeway lanes and rebuild existing ones.

Drivers heading to Millers Road will need to decide early where they intend to exit the freeway

From June, we will be splitting the freeway lanes after Williamstown Road off-ramp.

Drivers heading out of the city towards Brooklyn or Altona who want to exit at Millers Road will need to decide early from the West Gate Bridge and stay in the left lanes.

If you miss your turn-off, don’t worry, just take the next available exit. Please avoid making any unsafe last minute lane changes.

All four outbound lanes on the Freeway join back up after Millers Road, so if you are heading toward Grieve Parade, the M80 Ring Road or Princes Freeway, just stay in your lane.

Upcoming traffic changes

When there is a change to how you need to use the freeway, we will give you plenty of notice via freeway signs, road markings and through social media.

Thank you for your patience

We know these works are disruptive and require drivers to make decisions early to get to their intended destinations. We appreciate the community’s patience as we continue widening the Freeway.
