Work to remove the Toorak Road level crossing is set to commence after the contract was signed.
The $89 million contract will see the construction of an elevated rail bridge over Toorak Road that will ease traffic congestion.
Since February, project teams have been consulting with the community on changes to the surrounding urban design, open spaces, landscaping and pedestrian and cycling connections. As a result of feedback, a new pedestrian crossing will also be built for the project to improve safety while maintaining traffic flow for the adjacent Monash Freeway intersection.
The project will be delivered through an alliance of Laing O’Rourke, Jacobs and Metro (MTM) and is expected to be completed by 2021.
