The new Hughesdale Station on the Cranbourne-Pakenham line is now open for business.

Hughesdale is the fifth station to open as part of the level crossing removals between Caulfield and Dandenong, after Carnegie, Murrumbeena, Clayton and Noble Park were completed earlier this year.

The old 1970s-era brick building at Hughesdale has been replaced by a wrap-around canopy design that incorporates modern lighting, CCTV and waiting rooms.

Trains will run while workers complete the lifts, escalators and car park, which will open progressively by the end of September.

Shuttle buses are currently operating between Murrumbeena and Oakleigh for passengers needing lifts or elevators, including people with prams or shopping carts.
