It's all happening on the Frankston Line

Back to Newsfeed

It's an exciting time for locals on the Frankston Line as we begin to see Carrum take on a new shape.

Major works during July saw more than 350 crew work more than 5,000 hours at Carrum to:

  • remove the Station Street boom gates
  • build a new temporary track to keep Frankston Line trains running while works continue
  • demolish Carrum Station.

Although the Frankston Line is up and running, trains won't stop at Carrum until the new station opens in early 2020. During this period a shuttle bus will be operating between Seaford, Carrum and Bonbeach stations to connect commuters to train services.

To reduce closures to the Frankston Line, level crossing removals at Chelsea, Edithvale and Bonbeach will all be fast tracked.

Chelsea, Edithvale and Bonbeach level crossings will be gone by the end of 2022.

New modern stations will also be built for these locations, providing safer and easier links to public transport, local shops, parking and the beach, and improving connections for the local community.
