Now there’s room for 2,000 extra vehicles per hour on the busy freeway.

An extra lane in each direction has been added between EastLink and Clyde Road, reducing congestion and travel times.

There are now five lanes between EastLink and the South Gippsland Freeway, and three lanes between the South Gippsland Freeway and Clyde Road.

In the next stage of works, a new state-of-the-art freeway management system will be installed that assesses traffic and automatically turns ramp signals on and off to manage the number of vehicles entering the Monash.
