Construction on the Patterson River Bridge is set to be complete ahead of schedule, connecting communities in Carrum and Bonbeach via station street for the first time.

The new bridge will open to traffic by the end of September and will include two lanes for local traffic, a dedicated bike lane and shared walking and cycling path.

Eight bridge beams each weighing 32 tonnes, have been floated down the river on a barge and lifted into place, to construct the 80-metre road bridge across the Patterson River.
