The Reservoir level crossing is set to be removed with construction starting on an innovative new rail bridge.

The designs involve an elevated rail line over High Street and new Reservoir train station with a public plaza.

The premium station will include ground platforms with access via lifts and stairs, while the new station forecourt will be accessible from either side of the station plaza and have safe waiting areas, better lighting and station facilities.

On average, 36,000 vehicles travel through the Reservoir level crossing each day with the boom gates down for 24 minutes during the morning peak.

The Level Crossing Removal Authority will be engaging with the community in the coming months to get ideas on specific design elements for the upgraded station precinct, with the project set to be complete in 2020.
