The Gippsland Line Upgrade has developed a range of learning resources and initiatives to connect students to our work in an engaging way and help them better understand upgrades to Victoria's rail network.
Ahead of a construction blitz in November and December, the project team ran a sticker competition with Bunyip Primary School and Columba Catholic Primary School, with the winning design appearing on the hard hats of workers during the blitz.
Over 80 creative designs were received, making it very difficult to determine a winner! In the end, Sophie from Bunyip Primary School was selected as the winner – scoring a $100 Gumbuya World voucher.
Hats off to all the students who submitted a design, which were so good that we had to print a few more options for our workers.

Koo Wee Rup Secondary College students are working with the project team, helping to protect endangered bandicoots from predators such as foxes and feral cats by building nesting boxes.
The nesting boxes, provided by sustainability experts Eco Logical Australia, will provide areas for bandicoots to nest safely away from predators such as foxes and feral cats.
In addition to monitoring the population size and location of bandicoots, the protection program is managing pests and predators, to reduce threats to this endangered species.
Stay tuned to see the boxes installed along the Gippsland Line between Nar Nar Goon and Longwarry.
During Rail Safety week, the Gippsland Line Upgrade team visited ILO Longwarry Early Education Centre, teaching them about being safe around trains and tracks.
Centred around this year’s theme, ‘Expect the unexpected – watch out for trains’ students learnt about following signs and signals at level crossings, stations and how our upgrades are improving safety for road users, train passengers and rail workers.
