PLANNING

Calder Park Drive Interchange

We’re building a Calder Park Drive Interchange.

Overview

Planning is progressing for the new Calder Park Drive Interchange in Calder Park.

The project will:

  • improve the existing Calder Park Drive access at the Calder Freeway
  • improve safety.

Status

We have explored a range of potential design options and improvements. These included:

  • building an interchange at Calder Park Drive and the Calder Freeway
  • closing Calder Freeway access points at Calder Park Drive Motorsport Complex and Organ Pipes National Park
  • upgrading Calder Park Drive.

Initial planning work completed included traffic modelling, social studies and environmental investigations. These helped understand environmental and social impacts and confirm scope and costs of different options.

A business case examined the upgrade in detail to inform government decision-making.

Community feedback

From 26 November to 14 December 2021, we asked for community feedback via Engage Victoria. Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide feedback.

Feedback was considered in our planning and helped us understand how people currently use the road network as well as providing important local insights, including community views on access, efficiency, safety, environmental values and what’s important in the local area.

For more information on what we heard, read the Community Consultation Report (PDF, 1.1 MB).

Next steps

Planning work is continuing as the interchange moves towards construction. Key activities include:

  • refining the interchange design and scope
  • detailed environmental investigations to further understand flora and fauna which might be impacted by the interchange.
  • on-site investigations including identifying underground utilities and testing ground conditions.

Construction timelines will be known once our planning has progressed further.
