Overview
Planning is underway for an upgrade to the High Street Road and Mowbray Drive intersection in Wantirna South to improve safety and reduce travel times.
We’re investigating options to:
- add traffic lights to the intersection
- improve walking and cycling connectivity.

Planning and development
Planning work is underway and key activities include:
- developing a project design
- traffic analysis and modelling, to better understand movements in the area
- on-site investigations to test ground conditions and map utility services
- environmental investigations to understand flora, fauna and tree species.
We expect our initial planning work will be complete in late 2026. Our planning work will be used to inform government decisions on future funding.
Site investigations
To help inform our planning, we’ll complete roadside investigations. At times, we may need to implement traffic control measures, including temporary lane closures, stop/slow traffic and reduced speeds.
We’ll keep traffic disruption to a minimum and avoid busy periods, where possible.
