Fogarty Avenue and The Avenue

We are working hard to deliver the West Gate Tunnel Project, with more than 70 percent of the works on the West Gate Freeway now complete.

To progress these works, further road closures are required between The Avenue and Fogarty Avenue.

What's happening around my area currently

Ongoing

Our crews are currently replacing the existing cladding on the ramps of the walking and cycling bridge with solid panels of the same colour, to address noise concerns raised by the community during high winds..

The bridge remains open during these works but there might be some delay crossing.

Traffic controllers will be present to help guide you during these works.

Diversions to bus route 432

There will be changes to bus route 432 - more information can be found on PTV’s website and at impacted bus stops.

Fogarty Avenue (March 2022 – mid 2023)

Completion of less disruptive works along freeway verges, and at the end of streets leading up to the freeway including landscaping, kerbing, walking and cycling paths, barriers, drainage and asphalting.

Building of Federation Trail extension and other works (mid 2022 onwards)

One way traffic arrangement east of Wembley Avenue to The Boulevard.

Pedestrians and cyclists can continue to cross the freeway at the Muir Street pedestrian bridge.

Other works include installing freeway technology systems, the installation of permanent noise walls, freeway construction, landscaping and pedestrian bridge works will continue – including occasional night works.
