29 May 2024

The Victorian Government is removing 27 dangerous level crossings and building 17 new stations, making the Frankston Line level crossing free by 2029 and improving safety, reducing congestion, and allowing more trains to run more often. We’re removing the level crossings at Warrigal Road, Mentone and Parkers Road, Parkdale, and building a new Parkdale Station.

What we’re doing

During June, we will:

  • complete track work on the rail bridge, including laying crushed rock and installing overhead structures
  • install privacy screens on the rail bridge and continue to build the retaining walls and abutments
  • continue work on the new Parkdale Station
  • continue drainage works in the rail corridor and on Como Parade West and Como Parade East.

Works will take place during the following times:

  • 7am to 6pm weekdays
  • 7am to 3pm Saturdays
  • 7pm to 7am nightworks
  • 24/7 from Friday 14 to Monday 17 June and Friday 21 to Monday 24 June.

What to expect

  • Moderate to high noise and vibration from machinery, including cranes, excavators and trucks.
  • Minor delays and detours on roads and footpaths, and lane closures.
  • Minor traffic delays near site access gates for increased truck and trailer movements and deliveries.
  • Additional truck movements and vehicles for support crews.
  • Temporary lighting in place to safely illuminate work areas during night shifts.
  • In May, we advised the carpark on the corner of Como Parade East and Parkers Road would be closed until early August, however, the car park will now remain open and accessible for public parking.
