Wheels go round on South Road
The South Road Upgrade is rolling towards project completion in October with improvements to the Nepean Highway bike path, including a new bike repair station getting a workout earlier this week. The South Road Upgrade team have realigned, resurfaced, and widened the path to 2.5 metres, making it easier and safer for cyclists to travel around the local area.
As part of our commitment to the environment, we’ve used recycled products in the bike path asphalt, with mulch from trees removed as part of the works shared with the Only About Children day care centre, who put it to good use in their playground.
Based in Melbourne, the Native Oz Group, a 100% female owned Australian Indigenous company, has provided traffic management along Nepean Highway while we upgraded the bike path. More than 15 Aboriginal workers have been involved in building the South Road Upgrade to date, working in roles such as labouring, civil works and traffic management.
