How to apply

Before you apply

There are some eligibility requirements you need to satisfy before you can work with us, namely your right to work in Australia. We can accept applications from anyone who is an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, New Zealand Citizen, or has a valid working visa for Australia (the visa must be valid for the entire tenure of the role you apply for). Find out more information on working visas.

Please note that re-employment restrictions apply for recipients of Victorian Public Service (VPS) voluntary departure packages.

Recruitment process

The Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) recruits through fair, transparent and merit based employment practices.

Application

After the closing date, a panel will assess your application and all other applications against the key selection criteria outlined in the position description. Depending on the number of roles/size of the candidate pool, you may be asked to participate in a phone screen.

The most competitive candidates at this stage will be invited to attend an interview. At this point, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by a member of our Talent Acquisition team.

Interview

If you are invited to attend an interview you can expect to be assessed on the key selection criteria for the position by a panel. The panel will ask you a series of behavioural-based questions. This really gives you the opportunity to provide 'real life' examples of how you have demonstrated the skills required for this role through your previous employment.

Depending on the role type or number of roles, there may be a second stage interview, or a relevant work-based task, for example, a writing exercise or a case study.

References

If your application progresses to the background checking stage of the process you will be asked to provide a minimum of 2 professional referees. Reference checks form part of the assessment process.

Background checks

It is a mandatory requirement that all potential employees undertake a National Police Record Check. You will be invited to complete this if your application progresses to background checking stage of the recruitment process.

Depending on the role, you may also be required to undergo a qualification check. Successful candidates will be required to comply with the 100 point Proof of Identity Check.

Offer

If you've been made an offer, congratulations! You'll be advised of the outcome by a member of the Talent Acquisition team. If you didn't quite hit the mark this time, you may be offered a spot in our 'talent pool' for similar vacancies in the future.

All candidates that have attended an interview will be advised of the outcome verbally in the first instance.
