17 July 2026

We’re upgrading Boronia Station and building a new landscaped plaza on Dorset Road to deliver a modern and accessible precinct for the community.

What we’re doing

Throughout August, we will:

  • Continue installing structural steel, external cladding, brick work and roofing on the new buildings.
  • Begin road works in Lupton Way, installing new kerbs, road, footpaths and lighting.
  • Continue paving the new plaza, station concourse, platform and forecourt areas.
  • Continue works on the new platform canopies, installing steel, roofing and cladding.
  • Remove the temporary footpath through the pocket park and begin installing underground services, light poles and new footpaths.
  • Continue relocating the Dorset Road pedestrian crossing, installing new kerbs and underground services.
  • Paint and put finishing touches on the station precinct.

24-hour works in August and September

From Monday 27 July to Tuesday 4 August and Friday 21 August  to Monday 24 August our crews will work around the clock.

We will:

  • Clean and paint the trench walls around the station platform.
  • Install the roofs on the new platform canopies and the power and lighting for them.
  • Complete paving and install tactile signage on the platform.
  • Install ground level screens, replacing the old bar fencing.

During this period, you may notice increased truck movements, noise and vibration during the day and night. We’ll also move specialist machinery onto the train line from the end of Alfred Street.

Until Wednesday 30 September, we’ll work 24/7 at times around the station precinct and on Dorset Road. We’ll be in touch with directly impacted residents in advance.

What to expect

You may notice:

  • An increase in noise, dust and vibration near works areas. Our team will have controls in place to monitor and reduce these impacts
  • Reduced speed limits and traffic management around our works
  • Short intermittent pedestrian and cyclist detours around works areas – please follow signage
  • A small number of station parking spaces closed for works for short periods of time.

There may be utility works around the station and on Erica Avenue. Utility companies are responsible for notifying the community about any impacts. Please contact your utility provider if you have any questions.

Station reopening to passengers 4 August

On Tuesday 4 August trains are back at Boronia Station. From this date:

  • the platform can be accessed via the stairs or the lift
  • the Erica Avenue entry will be open with some pedestrian detours in place (see table below).

Platform toilets will be closed for renovation until early September. Temporary toilets will be available near the bus interchange.

From mid August the bus interchange will move back to its original location near the Erica Avenue station entry. The temporary interchange will close, with this section of passenger parking reopening.

While we continue working in the area, facilities and access will open in stages. We'll continue to keep the community informed as works progress. The Boronia Station upgrade will be complete in spring 2026.

Station access change

From late August to early October, we’ll close the Erica Avenue entrance to complete works on the station canopy. The Lupton Way entrance will open, with footpath access from Chander Road, Dorset Road (near the Lupton Way bend), and Boronia Junction. Road works will continue in Lupton Way.

Five accessible parking spaces will be available in the Chandler Road station car park, near the underpass entrance. We’ll provide further information in advance.

Changes to the way you travel

Additional temporary lane, footpath and road closures may be required at times throughout the works. Please follow signage and detours. Traffic management will be in place during works to safely guide you through the area. We will update directly impacted residents and traders in advance.
