20 May 2026
We’re upgrading Boronia Station and building a new landscaped plaza on Dorset Road to deliver a modern and accessible precinct for the community.
What we’re doing
Throughout June and July, we’ll:
- lay a concrete slab and ramps in the new plaza
- continue building the foundations of the new protective service officer building and access ramp
- begin external cladding and roofing on the new facilities building
- begin the foundations for the new platform canopies and laying inground services, including stormwater drainage and power
- bore under the bus interchange to install a new water connection from Erica Avenue.
Night works
We undertake noise modelling prior to our works and will be in touch with directly impacted residents and traders in advance.
- From 7pm Tuesday 9 June to 7am Friday 12 June and 7pm Monday 15 June to 7am Wednesday 17 June, we’ll work 24/7 to safely lift in steel beams and prefabricated walls for the new protective service officer building on Lupton Way.
- From 7pm Monday 22 June to mid-August we’ll work 24/7 at times around the station precinct.
- From 7pm Sunday 28 June to 7am Wednesday 5 August we’ll work 24/7 at times on Dorset Road between Chandler Road and Boronia Road and at the Chandler Road intersection.
What to expect
You may notice:
- an increase in construction activity, machinery, vehicles and workers
- an increase in noise, dust and vibration near works areas. Our team will have controls in place to monitor and reduce these impacts
- reduced speed limits and traffic management in place around our works. Please plan ahead in case of delays
- short pedestrian and cyclist detours around works areas.
There may be utility works around the station and on Erica Avenue. Utility companies are responsible for notifying the community about any impacts. Please contact your utility provider if you have any questions.
Dorset Road works
From late June, we’ll work to relocate the Lupton Way traffic signals to be in line with the new plaza at 251-253 Dorset Road. This will include new a new pedestrian crossing, paving, landscaping and upgrading lights at the Chandler Road and Dorset Road intersection.
Three parking spaces will be permanently closed between 249 and 253 Dorset Road and between 246 and 252 Dorset Road to allow for the new pedestrian crossing.
Station closure
Boronia Station is closed until spring 2026. Trains will continue running on the Belgrave Line for most of this time and shuttle buses are operating between Bayswater, Boronia and Ferntree Gully stations to connect passengers to train services. Shuttle buses will leave from the bus interchange at Boronia Station.
A section of the bus interchange is temporarily relocated to the station car park north of Chandler Road. For more information and to plan ahead, visit Transport Victoria.
At times, buses may replace trains on the Belgrave Line, plan ahead at Transport Victoria.
Changes to the way you travel
Additional temporary lane, footpath and road closures may be required at times throughout the works. Please follow signage and detours. Traffic management will be in place during works to safely guide you through the area. We will update directly impacted residents and traders in advance.
