6 May 2026

We’re upgrading Boronia Station and building a new landscaped plaza on Dorset Road to deliver a modern and accessible precinct for the community.

Throughout May, we’ll:

  • crane lift materials and equipment down to the station platform
  • continue works on the new plaza, including clearing space, drainage works and installing retaining walls
  • continue building the foundations of the new facilities building
  • begin work on the new protective service officer building
  • install steel for the walls and roof of the new buildings, with prefabricated walls to be lifted in by crane
  • remove canopies and bar fencing around the buildings.

Our usual working hours are Monday to Saturday 7am to 7pm. We’ll make every effort to complete these works on schedule, however dates are subject to change. We will be in touch with directly impacted residents and traders.

Night works

From 7pm, Friday 8 May to 7am, Wednesday 13 May we’ll use a crane to lower machinery and equipment down to the station platform. We’ll also launch vehicles onto the train line at the end of Alfred Street.

What to expect

You may notice:

  • an increase in construction activity, machinery, vehicles and workers
  • an increase in noise, dust and vibration near works areas. Our team will have controls in place to monitor and reduce these impacts
  • reduced speed limits and traffic management in place around our works: please plan ahead in case of delays
  • short pedestrian and cyclist detours around works areas.

There may be utility works around the station. Utility companies are responsible for notifying customers of any supply interruptions. Please contact your utility provider if you have any questions.

Station closure

From 11.30pm, Friday 8 May until spring 2026, Boronia Station will be closed. During this time, trains will not stop at Boronia Station. Shuttle buses will operate between Bayswater, Boronia and Ferntree Gully stations to connect passengers to train services. Shuttle buses will leave from the bus interchange at Boronia Station.

During this time, a portion of the bus interchange will relocate to the station car park north of Chandler Road. For more information and to plan ahead, visit Transport Victoria.

Dorset Road

From late June, we’ll begin work to relocate the Lupton Way traffic signals to be in line with the new plaza at 251-253 Dorset Road. This work includes new paving, landscaping and upgrading lights at the Chandler Road-Dorset Road intersection.

Three parking spaces will be permanently closed between 249 and 253 Dorset Road and between 246 and 252 Dorset Road to allow for the new pedestrian crossing. We will notify you again in advance of these works.

Changes to the way you travel

Additional temporary lane, footpath and road closures may be required at times throughout the works. Please follow signage and detours. Traffic management will be in place during works to safely guide you through the area. We will update directly impacted residents and traders in advance.
