Temporary changes to parking while we work

The Victorian Government is removing 20 dangerous level crossings and building 13 new stations as part of upgrades on the Frankston line that will improve safety, reduce congestion and allow more trains to run more often.

We're removing the level crossings at Neerim Road and Glen Huntly Road by lowering the rail line into a trench. We will also build a brand-new Glenhuntly Station with better facilities and more services set to open in 2023 – one year ahead of schedule. To safely carry out construction activities and to enable increased truck movement along the rail corridor, there will be times when we temporarily change the way you move around in Glen Huntly and Caulfield East.

These changes may include reduced or removal of on-street parking and some temporary carpark closures. Where possible, alternative parking options will be made available. Detours will also be in place and some delays are expected, so drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time. We work hard to reduce impacts of our construction works and thank you for your ongoing patience.

While level crossing removal works take place, there are car parking closures in, and around the Glenhuntly Station precinct until late 2023.

Why do we temporarily remove parking?

At times, we need to temporarily remove parking to allow our teams to work safely.

This helps us:

  • perform construction activities in a specific area
  • allow access for construction equipment
  • complete road works
  • relocate services.

Traffic management will be in place to ensure the safety of road users and pedestrians when we make changes to parking.

Alternative parking

From Thursday 1 September until late 2023 alternative parking will be at East Malvern Station.

The car park is located off Sylvester Crescent in Malvern East. Passengers requiring accessible parking are advised to either use Ormond or Carnegie stations.

Please note that alternative passenger parking may change during the project and passengers will be advised ahead of time. Allow extra time to move around the area while we work. We thank you for your patience.
