We’ve removed the level crossings at Hopkins Road in Truganina and Ferris Road in Melton. The new modern and accessible Melton Station will open on Tuesday 1 September and the boom gates will be gone at Coburns and Exford roads making Melton level crossing free in September.
We’re closing Coburns Road between James Melrose Drive and Staughton Street from 1am, Sunday 6 September to 7am, Thursday 24 September. During this time we’ll work 24 hours a day in the Melton Station precinct.
We’re also closing the northbound lane on Rees Road between Wilson Road and Staughton Street to build a new bus driveway and resurface the road from 7am, Saturday 19 September to 7am, Thursday 24 September.
Changes to the way you travel
Road
- Coburns Road closed between James Melrose Drive and Staughton Street from 1am, Sunday 6 September to 7am, Thursday 24 September. Detours in place. See map on this webpage below.
- Brooklyn Road between Exford Road and Hazel Street closed at times overnight and lane closures at times from Monday 7 September to late 2026.
- Rees Road between Wilson Road and Staughton Street northbound lane closed from 7am, Saturday 19 September to 7am, Thursday 24 September.
Pedestrian

Parking
- Brooklyn Road between Exford Road and Hazel Street, on street car parking spaces closed from Monday 7 September to late 2026.
Melton Station precinct
Lane closures around the Melton Station precinct may be required as works progress. Traffic management will be in place to help guide you around the area. Please allow extra travel time.
Pedestrian access and access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.
We’ll make every effort to complete works on schedule, however dates and times are subject to change.
What to expect
- Works 24 hours a day, with increased lighting, noise, vibration and traffic in the area.
- Traffic delays with detours in place from 1am, Sunday 6 September to 7am, Thursday 24 September.
- Increased truck movements.
- Dust minimised with watercarts.
