We’re carrying out coordinated works in Macleod to relocate power under the ground as part of the North East Link and the Ruthven Street level crossing removal projects.

As part of works for both projects, Total Underground Solutions on behalf of Jemena will install power infrastructure underground on Chapman, McNamara and Ruthven streets in Macleod from 8pm, Thursday 21 May to 6am, Tuesday 26 May.

To safely carry out these works, sections of Chapman, Ruthven, McNamara streets and Ellesmere Parade will be closed with detours in place. Some car spaces on McNamara Street will also be temporarily closed during these works.

What we’re doing

During this time, crews will work 24/7 to:

• dig along McNamara Street between Ruthven Street and the power substation on McNamara Street
• drill under the rail line from Ruthven Street to Chapman Street
• install power infrastructure underground and reinstate all roads when works are finished.
• works taking place at night and during the day, with an increase in noise, dust, light, vibration and construction vehicles in the area
• McNamara Street closed to vehicles between Dunstan and Ruthven streets
• pedestrian access to McNamara Street maintained
• temporary closure of up to 21 on-street car spaces on McNamara Street
• Ruthven and Chapman streets closed to vehicles at the level crossing
• intersection of Ellesmere Parade and Ruthven Street closed to vehicles.

Road

• McNamara Street closed between Dunstan and Ruthven streets from 8pm, Thursday 21 May to 6am, Tuesday 26 May. Detours in place. Pedestrian access maintained.
• Ruthven and Chapman streets closed at the level crossing from 8pm, Thursday 21 May to 6am, Tuesday 26 May. Detours in place. Pedestrian access maintained.
• Ellesmere Parade intersection on Ruthven Street closed from 8pm, Thursday 21 May to 6am, Tuesday 26 May. Detours in place.

Parking

• Up to 21 car parking spaces closed on McNamara Street between Dunstan and Ruthven streets from 8pm, Thursday 21 May to 6am, Tuesday 26 May.
