The Major Transport Infrastructure Authority (MTIA) is committed to protecting personal information provided by you in accordance with the principles of the Victorian privacy laws.

A reference to ‘MTIA’ means MTIA and each of the five MTIA Project Offices, being the:

  • Level Crossing Removal Project;
  • Major Road Projects Victoria;
  • North East Link Project;
  • Rail Projects Victoria; and
  • West Gate Tunnel Project.

What we collect

MTIA collects your personal information to carry out its work, including to contact you and record your engagement with us. MTIA's Privacy Policy describes MTIA's functions and activities in detail.

Ordinarily, we only collect your sensitive information or health information if you consent to the collection. However, in limited situations we do not need your consent, such as if the collection is required or authorised under law.

Do not include any sensitive information or health information in your response, unless we have requested it.

The terms 'personal information', 'sensitive information' and 'health information' are explained under the Commonly used words section of our Privacy Policy.

Anonymity

We respect your choice to remain anonymous, and you may interact with us anonymously where it is lawful and practicable for you to do so. However, sometimes, it may not be possible for us to provide information, deal with a complaint or perform other functions unless we can identify you.

Our online forms set out the information we need from you. In some instance our forms will have mandatory fields and you will not be able to submit your form without providing all the relevant information. However, in most instances, you will be able to proceed without filling in the entire form.

Our forms also indicate whether you can interact with us anonymously. If so, you will be able to get a copy of the form by emailing the contact listed below to request it in hardcopy and we will let you know where to forward it to.

If we collect an email we may be able to identify you from your email address.

Who we share your information with

Your information may be shared with our employees, contractors, stakeholders, including the Department of Transport, other public sector organisations, Ministers and Cabinet Committees, and others who need access to it as part of their duties for the reasons set out above, or otherwise where permitted by law.

We may aggregate and publish any responses you provide to Engage Victoria. If we use any of your individual responses then we will redact your identifying details before we include them in any consultation-related publications or reports. However, if we intend to identify you then we will notify you of our intention in our collection notice or we will contact you before doing so.
