1 March 2024

Works are continuing to remove the dangerous and congested level crossing at Keon Parade and build a new Keon Park Station.

Upcoming works

We’ll build a new bus stop at the intersection of High Street and Hughes Parade. To do this we’re installing drainage, pedestrian paths and road pavement.

We’ll work on connecting the L-beams to form the U-shape of the Mernda-bound rail bridge. Handrails will then be fitted, and crews will lay ballast – crushed rock that keeps the railway sleepers in place - and complete track work.

The new Keon Park Station is coming together with a focus on the station platform canopy and connecting essential services.

Impacted residents and businesses will be notified in advance of night works taking place. There will be changes to how you travel around the area.

What to expect

  • Construction vehicles and machinery movement
  • Early morning deliveries along High Street
  • Increased noise, dust and vibration
  • Additional lighting at times
  • Traffic management and detour signage
  • Temporary closure of roads, lanes, footpaths and car parks
  • Access to homes and businesses always maintained
  • Work hours 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and 7am to 3pm Saturday
  • Keon Park Station to remain closed until spring.

Every effort will be made to complete these works on schedule, however, dates and times are subject to change.

Changes to the way you travel

Keon Parade

  • closed overnight at the level crossing from 9pm Thursday 7 March to 5am Friday 8 March. Detours will be in place.
  • reduced to one westbound lane at the level crossing from 7am Wednesday 13 March to 6pm Friday 15 March. Drivers will still be able to turn left and right onto High Street.

During this time:

  • drivers will not be able to turn left onto High Street from Hughes Parade. Detours will be in place.
  • pedestrian detour via High Street service lane.
  • Route 555 bus stop at the intersection of Hughes Parade and High Street will be closed.
  • Keon Park Station shuttle bus stop will move on High Street, across Mahoneys Road.

High Street southbound
