On 7 May 2020, the Minister for Planning designated the Clyde Road Level Crossing Removal Project Area under section 95 of the Major Transport Projects Facilitation Act 2009 (MTPF Act). Variations to the project area were made on 3 February 2022 under section 96 of the MTPF Act.

The project area is shown in the plans LEGL./19-051 Sheets 1 to 10 (inclusive) PDF, 1.7 MB. Variations to the project area are shown in LEGL./20-062 Sheets 1 to 3 (inclusive) PDF, 504.5 KB and LEGL./21-061 Sheets 1 to 2 (inclusive) PDF, 392.5 KB.

The designation of the project area enables the project proponent (the Secretary to the Department of Transport and Planning) to use the project delivery powers under the MTPF Act.
