8 May 2023

As part of the Victorian Government's commitment to removing 85 dangerous and congested level crossings, we're removing the level crossing at Webb Street, Narre Warren.

The removal of the Webb Street level crossing will help make the Pakenham Line boom gate free by 2025.

We’ll remove the level crossing by building a new elevated rail bridge over Webb Street. We’ll also build a new Narre Warren Station. The new Narre Warren Station will feature improved and modern facilities and spaces for the community to enjoy.

Building a new rail bridge will ease congestion for the 13,200 vehicles that pass through the crossing each day and make it safer and easier for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists to move around.

Removing this level crossing will help create a level crossing-free Pakenham Line, which will change how locals live, work and travel by delivering a safer and more reliable travel network, better connections and improved travel times.

Construction will start in late 2022 and the level crossing will be removed by 2025.

Going over Narre Warren–Cranbourne Road

In addition to the elevated rail bridge over Webb Street, we will build a new steel structure over Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road beside the existing bridge.

The elevated rail bridge over Webb Street will connect to this new bridge to the east of the station.

The existing bridge will remain to provide important maintenance access to the rail track.

  • Weather protected stairs, shelter on the platforms.
