Meet your new Narre Warren Station

We’re removing 110 dangerous and congested level crossings across Melbourne by 2030, with 82 already gone for good.

In December 2023, Webb Street became the 74th level crossing removed, with a new rail bridge improving safety and reducing delays for the 13,200 vehicles that used the crossing daily.

The new Narre Warren Station opened on Thursday 28 March with two accessible elevated platforms, a ticket office and new bus bays.

In the last few months, the station toilets, air-conditioned waiting room and more than 670 upgraded car parks opened for commuters.

The new station also features bike parking, a landscaped forecourt with seating and improved pedestrian connections to Narre Warren Village.

Making Narre Warren even better

  • Improving safety and connections for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists
  • Easing congestion and reducing travel times
  • New Narre Warren Station with modern facilities
  • Making way for more trains to run more often
  • Stimulating economic growth by creating hundreds of jobs

Thank you, Narre Warren

Works in the south east

Working towards a level crossing free Pakenham Line.

We’ve elevated the rail line through Pakenham, removed 3 sets of boom gates, extended the metropolitan rail line by 2km, and built new stations at Pakenham and Pakenham East as part of a $15 billion investment in the Pakenham Line to improve safety, reduce congestion and allow for more trains more often.

In April, the Brunt Road bridge in Beaconsfield opened to vehicles, 1 year ahead of schedule.

Works are wrapping up with landscaping, signage, footpath connection and painting of the bridge walls now complete.

With the level crossing at Brunt Road gone for good, we also closed the nearby level crossing at Station Street, Officer. As part of these works, we're building new pedestrian connections, improving safety for locals travelling to Officer Station.

Construction is continuing at Station Street, Beaconsfield with the new road bridge taking shape. Crews will continue piling works south of the rail line, with boom gates set to be a thing of the past in 2025.

Major works are also underway to remove the level crossing at Progress Street, Dandenong and build the new road bridge over Eumemmerring Creek, connecting Progress Street to Fowler Road.

Planning work is continuing on the designs for the Webster Street level crossing removal in Dandenong. Final designs will be released in late 2024.
