Facilitated by LXRP, the session started with an Acknowledgement of Country and welcomed participants to the first online community information session for the Webb Street Level Crossing Removal Project.
Belinda Wilson, member for Narre Warren North, welcomed community members to the meeting.
A general overview of the project was provided, including:
- Why the level crossing has to go and the benefits of the project
- Project timelines
- The new Narre Warren Station precinct – open by 2025
- Major works in the area
Members of the project team shared timelapse footage and provided an update on works:
- Site offices have been set up
- Temporary fencing installed around work areas
- Works commenced on temporary commuter car park in Austin Avenue Reserve
- Utility service relocation commenced
- Bridge foundation works underway
- The project will work 24/7 from Thursday 25 to Wednesday 31 May
The team also shared information about upcoming travel disruptions.
A summary of the ongoing community engagement activities was presented, including an overview of the range of communication materials, channels and activities used to keep the community informed and respond to queries during construction.
The project team answered questions from participants, including:
- The upgraded station car parks in the new Narre Warren Station precinct
- Accessibility in the new station precinct
- Traffic disruptions and rail line closures
