Longer 9-car VLocity trains will be able to run on the Melton Line next year, one year ahead of schedule. Running longer trains will boost passenger capacity by 50 per cent during peak services.

As part of the $650 million Melton Line Upgrade, we’re building a new train stabling yard in Cobblebank, 700m east of the new Melton Station, to house the new trains.

We're starting construction of the new Cobblebank train stabling yard, between Abey Road and the rail corridor from Monday 1 June.

We’ll be working from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm on Saturdays.

What we’re doing

  • Setting up temporary buildings.
  • Ground preparation works.
  • Building demolition and clean up.
  • Sewerage and utility works.
  • Installing site entry gates and driveways along Abey Road.

What to expect

  • Speed reduction on Abey Road, as required.
  • Shuttle flow traffic conditions on Abey Road, as required.
  • Increased noise, vibration and dust. Dust will be minimised with watercarts.
  • An increase in workers and construction vehicles in the area.

Access to businesses on Abey Road will be maintained at all times.

We’ll make every effort to complete works on schedule; however, date and times are subject to change.
