Early site investigations

We are closing the dangerous and congested level crossing at Anderson Street in Yarraville and building a new underpass by 2029. This will keep the area moving and allow for more trains more often on the Werribee Line.

What we’re doing

As part of our early project planning, we are conducting soil sampling investigations to assist in design development and to better understand local ground conditions. These soil sampling works will take place on Anderson Street near the level crossing and on Canterbury Street near the rail corridor at times between March and May. Activities include using hand tools to test ground conditions and collecting soil samples.

What to expect

  • Soil sampling will take place during the first and third weeks of each month between March and May.
  • During this time, there may be brief traffic stoppages on Anderson Street. Where possible, these will be scheduled to coincide with periods when the level crossing boom gates are already lowered, helping to minimise disruption.
  • Some sections of on-street parking will be temporarily unavailable while investigations are underway.
  • Traffic management will be in place to safely guide motorists and pedestrians through the area.
