We’re removing the level crossing at Maidstone Street, Altona by building a new road bridge over the rail line to improve safety and create better connections.
Major construction is underway. Thank you for your patience as we deliver this important project.
What we’re doing in August
In August, we will:
- Continue to build the bridge deck, retaining walls and northern and southern approaches.
- Continue relocating underground power, gas, sewer, water and telecommunications services along Maidstone Street and nearby roads. Service providers will contact you directly if services or access are affected.
Changes to the way you travel
Rail
Buses will replace trains on the Werribee and Williamstown lines in August. Visit the Transport Victoria website for more information.
Out of hours works
From 7pm, Friday 28 August to 3am, Monday 31 August, our site will be open while minor works are carried out in the rail corridor, while trains aren’t running. There will be no impacts to traffic during this time.

- Reduced speed limits and traffic management will be in place around our work areas, resulting in delays at times. Please follow all directional signage and travel safely when moving through the area.
- Increase in construction vehicles, delivery trucks and machinery moving around the area.
- Traffic management and light towers in place to ensure works can occur safely.
- During some activities you may notice an increase in construction noise, vibration and dust.
