We’re removing the level crossing at Maidstone Street, Altona by building a new road bridge over the rail line to improve safety and create better connections.

Major construction is underway, with the project due for completion next year. Thanks for your patience while we complete these important works.

What we’re doing in October:

In October, we will:

• Continue building the retaining walls and road approaches to connect Maidstone Street to the new bridge.
• Complete drainage works to support construction of the new road bridge.
• Carry out site investigations on Civic Parade to help plan for future project works.
• Remove redundant utility services along Maidstone Street, including waste material.
• Continue relocating underground power, gas, sewer and water services along Maidstone Street and nearby roads. Service providers will contact you directly if services or access are affected.

Out of hours

To minimise impacts on local businesses, some pavement works on Maidstone Street will be undertaken outside normal working hours.

What to expect

• Normal working hours are Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm and Saturday between 7am and 3pm, with some out of hours works at times.
• Reduced speed limits and traffic management will be in place around our work areas, resulting in delays at times. Please follow all directional signage and travel safely when moving through the area.
• Temporary speed reductions will apply on Civic Parade in October. Please observe onsite signage.
• Increase in construction vehicles, delivery trucks and machinery moving around the area.
• During some activities you may notice an increase in construction noise, vibration and dust.
