We’re removing the level crossing at Maidstone Street, Altona by building a new road bridge over the rail line to improve safety and create better connections.

Major construction is underway, with the project due for completion next year. Thanks for your patience while we complete these important works.

What we’re doing in September

In September, we will:

• Continue to build the bridge deck, retaining walls and the road approaches that will connect to the new bridge.
• Complete drainage works to help prepare the area for upcoming road and bridge construction.
• Continue relocating underground power, gas, sewer and water services along Maidstone Street and nearby roads. Service providers will contact you directly if services or access are affected.

What to expect

• Normal working hours are Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm and Saturday between 7am and 3pm, with some out of hours works at times.
• Reduced speed limits and traffic management will be in place around our work areas, resulting in delays at times. Please follow all directional signage and travel safely when moving through the area.
• Increase in construction vehicles, delivery trucks and machinery moving around the area.
• During some activities you may notice an increase in construction noise, vibration and dust.
