An investment of more than $4 billion by the Australian and Victorian governments, the Sunshine Superhub will untangle Melbourne's most complex rail junction outside the CBD. The new superhub will create space for a future rail line to Melbourne Airport and future electrified Melton Line.

As part of early works for the project, we will carry out site investigations in a section of the commuter carpark at Albion Station. These works will occur from Tuesday 18 November to Friday 12 December 2025.

What we are doing

  • We will survey the ground conditions within this area to gather information about the makeup of the soil and rock under the surface.
  • To safely carry out these works, up to 100 spaces at the southernmost end of the commuter carpark will be closed during this time.

What to expect

  • small work crews, machinery and construction vehicles (including trucks) in the area
  • mobile caravan for worker facilities
  • temporary fencing around the work areas to ensure safety of the community and our crews
  • medium levels of noise, similar to a truck engine running
  • no changes to the Albion Station commuter carpark entrance/exit
  • shared use path remains open.
