Sunshine Superhub

Works spanning 6km between West Footscray and Albion
Realigned passenger and freight rail lines
Enabling more than 1000 trains through Sunshine daily

As part of Melbourne Airport Rail Stage 1: West Footscray to Albion Rail Upgrade the project will deliver major changes to the rail network around Sunshine Station that will enable a rail line to the airport and pave the way for electrification to Melton, by creating a Sunshine Superhub.

The concept designs incorporate features of the Sunshine Station Masterplan, enabling a major refresh of the Sunshine Station precinct and unlocking opportunities for future development.

The upgraded Sunshine Station Precinct will feature:

New walking and cycling links creating better community connections
New City Place Plaza featuring landscaped open space
New station forecourt with open space and landscaping
Two new regional platforms and station concourse
Additional lifts to improve accessibility and safety to platforms
Upgraded station carpark with dedicated pick-up and drop-off zone near station entrance
A bicycle parkiteer, providing secure parking for cyclists
Bus interchange upgrades
Security cameras and improved lighting
