A new 500m long rail bridge will be built over the Maribyrnong River beside the existing heritage freight rail bridge.
This will be one of Victoria’s tallest rail bridges, standing at 50m.
Planned timeline
Site investigations for Melbourne Airport Rail Stage 2 will start this year, with major construction kicking off in 2028. The project will be complete in 2031.
