Regional Victorians will benefit from Melbourne Airport Rail, with Ballarat, Geelong, and Bendigo lines having direct connections through Sunshine Station to Melbourne Airport.
The estimated travel time for passengers travelling to Melbourne Airport from these regional stations are:
- Ballarat to the airport – around 1.5 hours*
- Bendigo to the airport – around 2 hours*
- Geelong to the airport – around 1 hour*
*Based on current travel time estimates, actual journey times may differ.
Passengers from the state’s south-east will benefit from the Gippsland Line connection to the newly-constructed Metro Tunnel, via an interchange along the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines.
This will also make access to regional cities easier for interstate and international visitors, helping to drive tourism in regional Victoria for years to come.
As well as connecting people to and from the airport, Melbourne Airport Rail will connect passengers to Melbourne’s key health, research and education, development, employment and tourism precincts.
