Melbourne Airport Rail takes off with stage 2 works

As part of Melbourne Airport Rail Stage 2, we’re building a new modern and accessible station at Keilor East that will service 5,200 passengers daily.
The new station will feature:
- Pedestrian overpass connecting both sides of the rail line
- Lifts and stairs to the station platforms
- Commuter car park
- Bus interchange.
Locals will have the chance to have their say on what's important to them as part of the new station in 2027.
Location
The new station will be located near the intersection of Western Ring Road and Calder Freeway, with access from Terror Street, Keilor Park to the west and Roberts Road, Airport West to the east.
Network connections
When the station opens, trains will run every 20 minutes throughout the day, with the journey via the Metro Tunnel into the CBD taking about 27 minutes.
Stops will include Sunshine Station, where passengers can connect to regional services to the state's west and the Cranbourne, Pakenham and Sunbury Line.
Passengers will be able to connect to the Werribee, Laverton, Williamstown and Sandringham Line at Footscray Station.
The frequency of services will increase when the rail line to the airport is complete.
Planned timeline
The station is in the early planning stages and site investigations will start this year.
The new Keilor East Station will be complete in 2031.
