We are delivering stage one of Melbourne Airport Rail with an investment of more than $4 billion by the Australian and Victorian governments to build the Sunshine Superhub, creating space for a rail line to the airport and future electrification of the Melton Line. The project will also rebuild a new modern and accessible Albion Station.

In preparation for major construction works on the Sunshine Superhub, a number of major underground utilities services in the rail corridor need to be relocated. As we prepare to carry out these relocation works, there will be some changes in the area.

On Monday 2 February 2026, the commuter car park at Albion Station will close until late 2026 to make way for underground drilling, service relocation and pipe storage. The station will remain open to passengers and 8 accessible car spaces in the station car park will remain available.

Alternative commuter parking will be available from Monday 2 February 2026 near Tottenham Station on Rupert Street, located to the east of the existing station commuter car park.

What we are doing

From Monday 5 January 2026, we will establish a project works site at 1 Midway Lane, located to the north of Albion Station.

From Monday 2 February 2026, we will temporarily close the Albion Station commuter car park and will:

• set up temporary fencing and barriers around the Albion Station commuter car park to create a safe working area
• remove car park light poles
• deliver equipment and machinery to site, including long pipes
• set up a site compound for worker facilities in the station car park, including water supply connection
• relocate underground services within the station car park and adjacent areas
• close the shared use path through the car park, and establish detours for pedestrians and cyclists.

What to expect

• an increase in work crews, machinery and construction vehicles (including trucks) in the area
• a mobile caravan for worker facilities in the Albion Station car park, including power generators
• medium to high levels of noise
• medium levels of vibration
• we'll work Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm. We may work Saturdays, 7am to 3pm if required.
