Works starting on new Ford Park Sports Pavilion
Keeping local sports clubs thriving while we build North East Link.
As part of a $68 million investment we’re delivering major upgrades to Ford Park with a new pavilion and other sports facilities.
Over coming weeks, you’ll notice more activity on site as builders start removing the old grandstand to make way for the new sports pavilion and extension of the car park.
During the work there will be work crews in and around the area, an increase in construction vehicles and some noise from equipment such as excavators, concrete trucks and generators.
The grandstand has been in place since the 1950s and we’ll be working to acknowledge the history of the grandstand in a number of ways, while building a new facility for future generations.
We’ll also save any steel and brick material that can be re-used for other projects or turned into other materials.
Work has also started on the basketball/futsal court and cricket practice nets and is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
Due to the age of the grandstand, we expect to find some asbestos. Managing material like this is a common part of construction work and we'll have a range of measures in place to ensure the safety of nearby residents and workers.
All work will be carried out in line with Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and WorkSafe requirements.
